BJP, Congress cross swords over Tipu Sultan birth anniversary

The Karnataka government’s decision to celebrate Tipu sultan’s birth anniversary on November 10 has sparked protests from the BJP and its allied organizations. The BJP & VHP have expressed displeasure & threatened the state govt that they will approach the court over the matter. Key leaders of VHP & BJP have always spoken aggressively against Tipu saying that he was was a Hindu hater who converted several thousand Hindus to Islam and was anti-Kannadiga. Undeterred by the threat, State govt plans to celebrate the jayanti in a grand manner.
