Accused Sher Singh Rana found guilty in Phoolan Devi Murder Case

The assassination of the Bandit Queen turned MP Phoolan Devi has today been given judgment where the prime accused Sher Singh Rana has been pronounced guilty.

Singh has been charged with sections 302 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and will be sentenced on August 12. He has been charged for murder, attempt of murder and common intention under the IPC.

The dacoit turned a Samajwadi Party leader was shot dead on July 25, 2001 outside her house at Ashoka Road.

The 13-year-old case has today found its shape where Delhi based Patiala House Court has let off ten other acquitted in the case.

During the trial, the court had recorded the testimony of 171 witnesses, following which Sher Singh was announced guilty.

Apart from Rana, there were 11 more accused in the case, one of who names Pradeep had succumbed to heart attack last year in November in Tihar Jail.
