Centre replace Haryana Governor with own Rajya Sabha MP

Kaptan Singh Solanki - a BJP Rajya Sabha MP since 2009 representing Madhya Pradesh - who has been appointed the new governor of Haryana, is likely to seek an explanation from the state government for forming a parallel Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). The Centre's decision to immediately appoint a replacement for governor Jagannath Pahadia, whose term ends on Saturday was indicative of such a move. Unlike in other cases, where the charge of the state was given to another governor until a replacement was made, the Centre has gone for an immediate filling of the vacancy in Haryana.

Solanki is likely to ask for a presidential reference to the central government if he feels the Haryana law is not in keeping with the Constitution, giving a new twist to the raging controversy.
