Winter Session 2021: Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha Adjourned Sine Die As Both Houses Remained Gridlocked Over Union Govt And Opposition MP Positions

On December 22, both Houses of Parliament, the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha, were adjourned sine die. With this, ends the Winter Session of Parliament, a day ahead of schedule. Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla decided to end the session. Rajya Sabha saw several protests following the suspension of 12 opposition members for their unruly behaviour in the previous session. Naidu said, “The Rajya Sabha functioned much below its potential.” Om Birla said, “The overall productivity of the Lok Sabha was 82 per cent.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress President Sonia Gandhi were present.
