38 Indian fishermen arrested by Sri Lankan Navy

Thirty-eight fishermen have been arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy personnel on Monday.

All the fishermen are from villages in Rameswaram and Pudukottai apprehended by Sri Lankan Navy. Nine boats belonging to the Indian fishermen have also been seized.

Last month, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa urged the Central government to secure the release of Indian fishermen from Sri Lankan jails.
