Sri Lanka rescues at least 120 beached whales in country’s biggest mass stranding

The Sri Lankan navy and local volunteers were desperately trying to push at least 120 short-finned pilot whales back into the sea after they were found stranded on a beach in the city of Panadura, 25km (15 miles) south of the island nation’s capital, Colombo. The local marine authority said it was the biggest mass stranding of whales on record in Sri Lanka.
