Voters being punished for vote against Mulayam

Akhilesh Yadav government is also grappling with a major power crisis in the state. The long power cuts have plunged most parts of the state into darkness, raising serious questions over the efficiency of the government. The opposition has alleged that the areas which did not vote for the ruling SP were being 'punished' in this manner.
Power Minister Piyush Goel asked the Akhilesh government to rise above petty politics and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
A defiant Akhilesh, however, said UP could produce its own electricity. "UP is capable of producing electricity. We need coal as soon as possible. Without coal, we cannot do anything," he said.
