Coalgate Missing File: Congress MP Vijay Darda recommendation letter missing from files

NEW DELHI: Among documents missing from Coalgate files are recommendation letters written by Congress MP Vijay Darda for allocation of Bander coal block to AMR Iron and Steel Pvt. Ltd that was received by the coal ministry from the Prime Minister's Office. The politically sensitive allocation, now under investigation, was made soon after. Part of the list of files and documents sent to coal secretary SK Srivastava on September 2 by attorney general GE Vahanvati, the document with a serial number 46 pertains to the 'record documents' relating to Darda's recommendation letters. CBI told the attorney general that the relevant file was available with the agency since 2012 but Darda's letter was not there.
