Bihar Midday Meal: WHO flashed red light

NewsX: Bihar's mid day meal disaster should not have taken place at all. But for the fact that Central Government callously failed to act on the warnings issued by the World Health Organisation.

The WHO report clearly said that the pesticide Monocrotophos should be banned not only because it was a powerful nerve posion but also because Indians had a tendency to recycle the containers and store water and food in them.

Many nations have banned the pesticide including Australia, Cambodia, China, European Union, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and the U.S.
