NewsX: India gets C-17 Globemaster Strategic Airlifter from US

NewsX: Even as India and China are trying to find a middle ground. India acquires its second C-17 Globemaster strategic airlifter from the US for rapid troop movement along the Himalayan frontiers.
This aircraft has a central role in the concept of operations of the Mountain Strike Corps. Its raising was approved last week by the Government for an attack capability across the disputed Himalayan boundaries.
The aircraft is the biggest in the IAF inventory which was handed over to the Indian Air Force in the presence of Air Chief NAK Browne in the US. India has ordered for 10 Globemaster air-crafts from the US at a cost of 4.1 billion dollars.
