Andar Ki Baat: BJP calls Congress march 'political stunt'
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday strongly criticized the Congress' march against “growing intolerance” as a “political stunt” and cited the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the Emergency, and the killing of well-known rationalist MM Kalburgi as instances of the opposition party’s “intolerance” and “hypocrisy”. BJP leader and union Minister Prakash Javadekar said: “It is a political stunt. They (Congress party) are the epitome of intolerance; they did not stand dissent during the Emergency and ruptured the constitutional mechanism in the country. It was a Congress dictatorship and they forcefully sterilized poor Muslims, in the worst kind of intolerance. Sikhs were butchered during the 1984 riots and by Congress goons, and Rajiv Gandhi justified it.”
