NewsX: For longer than a decade, section 8 (4) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, has been the subject of intense debate. It's that part of the election law that lets those with convictions continue their term in Parliament and state legislatures so long as they have filed an appeal. Those in favour of reforming the law have argued that the Parliament protecting its members is unconstitutional.
