Cold wave hits Delhi, temperature drops to 2.7 degree C

The national capital continues to be in the grip of an intense cold wave. Delhi recorded coldest January morning today in last five years. The mercury had dropped to 2.7 degrees Celsius, 4 notches below normal. Dense fog in the early morning hours also affected road, rail and air traffic in the capital. Schedules of around 50 flights were affected due to fog. In view of the intense cold wave conditions in the city, the Delhi government has ordered all schools under it to remain closed until January 12. On Thursday, the capital had recorded a maximum temperature of 12.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 4.4 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature had plummeted to 9.8 degree Celsius on Wednesday, the lowest in 44 years.
