Cold wave grips North India - NewsX

It's Christmas today and the Northern part of India woke up to extreme cold and fog. In fact, all of the northern plains are in the grips of a bitter cold wave. Ten people have died in Uttar Pradesh of the extreme cold conditions in the past three days. Temperatures across india have been on the lower side. The thermometer dipped to -1.8 degrees centigrade in Srinagar. In Gangtok in Sikkim, it touched 6.1 degrees. Delhi and Bhopal shivered at 7 degrees centigrade and Patna was only a shade warmer at 7.1 deg centigrade. Jaipur was 7.6 deg centigrade. And Lucknow was 9.2 deg centigrade. Guwahati temperature dipped to 9.4 degrees and Hisar and Ahmedabad were 12 degrees centigrade. Kolkata too shivered at 12.2 deg centigrade. In rest of India beyond the North of the country, temperatures were fairly tolerable. Mumbai's 19.5 and Thiruvananthapuram's 23.4 degrees
