Narendra Modi is fighting to retain his Chief Ministership in Gujarat for the third successive time. The first phase of polling in the state for 87 seats has now concluded. Moderate to high turnout has been recorded in the seats that have gone to polls in the regions of Saurashtra and South Gujarat. The fate of political big-wigs like Gujarat Parivarthan Party leader Keshubhai Patel, BJP R C Faldu and Congress' Arjun Modhwadia are now locked in electronic voting machines.
