Bihar: Panchayat commits murder - NewsX

In a horrific incident, a 4 month pregnant woman was beaten to death after a panchayat decided that she had an illicit affair in the Purnea district of Bihar. The victim Shahzaadi had 3 children. The Tirpara Panchayat Sarpanch Zakir Ahmed ordered the beating. Sahzaadi's husband works as a laborer in Delhi. The village panchayat alleged that she was pregnant as a result of illicit relations with a villager Salim. Shazaadi denied the charge. Despite which the sarpanch ordered her to be thrashed. The Jalalgad police station has filed a complaint against 11 people including Zakeer Ahmed who is on the run. The police say they expect to make some arrests in the case soon.
