42 Congress MLAs rebel against Maharashtra CM - NewsX
  • 5 years ago
It seems NCP leaders in Maharashtra are not the only ones who want Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan out. Adding to the Congress' worries, now 42 Congress MLAs have openly raised the flag of rebellion. That's nearly half the Congress MLAs in the house. They've sent a letter of complaint to state Congress chief Manikrao Thakre with copies to AICC in-charge Mohan Prakash and party Chief Sonia Gandhi. MLAs have said that there are worries about the party's prospects in elections ahead. Voices of dissent have been heard at legislature party meetings as well. Congress has 82 MLAs in the Maharashtra assembly. A senior Congress leader however made it clear that the grievances of the MLAs had nothing to do with those of NCP leaders.
