Senior leader Jaswant Singh is likely to quit from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contest as an Independent from his home town of Barmer in Rajasthan, sources say. Despite making it clear that he wanted to contest from Barmer as it would be his last Lok Sabha elections, the BJP gave him a ticket from Dahod in Gujarat.
A miffed Singh said that he would decide his next course of action on March 24 even as a rattled BJP leadership said that the party would find another another role for him. The veteran leader said, "There is a real and a fake BJP. I cannot decide which is which but the people will. I have fought for the real BJP till now."
