Wary of Modi social media reach, Rahul bans Congress leaders from remarks without clearance
  • 5 years ago
India News : In an attempt to prevent Congress leaders from making thoughtless statements against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and embarrassing the party, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has banned party leaders from saying anything without an all-clear from two coordinators and that too 24 hours in advance before releasing it to the media.

According to the new diktat from the Gandhi scion, every leader has to get permission from the coordinators-Deepak Amin and SV Ramani. Apparently, anyone flouting the new norm will face action. It is not known whether this would apply to serial comment-makers or twitter whizzes like senior leader Digvijaya Singh.

The war of words between Modi and Congress leaders has often left the party high command embarrassed.

In his recent speeches, Modi, who also heads the BJP campaign committee for 2014 Lok Sabha polls, has been targeting the Congress and the UPA on several issues.

This move of Rahul's is seen as an attempt to minimize Modi's role in the Congress agenda for the Lok Sabha polls and prevent him from getting undue media attention following unsavory remarks by Congress leaders.
