Chhattisgarh Naxal Attack: Home Minister ends Holidays

India News: Sushil kumar Shinde has finally reached India after his extended United States holiday.

At a time when the country needed him the most he was out in the US on his prolonged holidays leaving his Congress counterparts red faced from attack of the opposition.

The Home Minister is back after more than 100 hours of Saturday's on slaughter.

However, he may not have been missed much as not only did the government weather the storm over the Chhattisgarh massacre in his absence, it responded to the crisis by dispatching additional central troops and even carried out a significant overhaul of anti-Maoist strategy.

Although Shinde has been criticized by the opposition for his absence, it may not have proved much of a disadvantage, as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi took charge of the political response by visiting the state and top officials like national security advisor Shivshankar Menon, cabinet secretary Ajit Kumar Seth and home secretary R K Singh handled the security fallout.
