Credit card spending at convenience stores in South Korea is on the rise,... mainly due to the growth in the number of one-person households.
According to the Bank of Korea on Sunday, credit card spending at convenience stores totaled around six-point-two billion U.S. dollars from January to November last year.
The figure marks an on-year increase of almost 20-percent.
Watchers say the rise in single-person households means more people are buying instant meals at the stores.
Separate data from Statistics Korea shows the ratio of one-person households in South Korea was 28-point-6 percent in 2017.
