Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has fired back over the controversy surrounding her boyfriend's House email address.

Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has fired back after some conservatives began to speculate about her boyfriend receiving a government email address.

Her response was prompted by a tweet stating: "While you were having a nice Valentine's Day, @AOC decided to put her boyfriend on staff - drawing a salary on the taxpayer's dime. Nice to see her adapting to the swamp so quickly."
The user also included a screenshot showing Ocasio-Cortez's boyfriend Riley Roberts with a "mail.house.gov" email address.
"Actually this cal designation is a permission so he can have access to my Google Cal," Ocasio-Cortez wrote back. "Congressional spouses get Gcal access all the time. Next time check your facts before you tweet nonsense."
In fact, a spokesperson for the House's Office of the Chief Administrative Officer told the Washington Post: "From time to time, at the request of members, spouses and partners are provided House email accounts for the purposes of viewing the member's calendar."
"Rep. Ocasio-Cortez's partner, Mr. Roberts, has no official position, paid or otherwise, with her congressional office," her chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, further noted.
