Donald Trump Jr. on Thursday called the reported discussion of removing President Trump from office via the 25th Amendment an "attempted coup."
He wrote in a tweet: "When is someone going to finally investigate the investators [sic]? If this isn't and attempted coup I don't know what is. Regardless of party if you're not troubled by this, you're part of the problem." His message is a reference to a yet-to-air '60 Minutes' interview with former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who is releasing a new book titled, "The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump."  Correspondent Scott Pelley told 'CBS This Morning' on Thursday that McCabe backs previous reports of the conversations regarding Trump's removal and says they occurred in the wake of the dismissal of then-FBI Director James Comey.   The Justice Department has since released a statement, calling McCabe's account "inaccurate and factually incorrect" and noting there is "no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment."
McCabe was fired in March 2018 in a controversial move by the Trump administration just days before he was eligible to retire.
