The lake Synevyr spilled at an altitude of almost 1000 meters above sea level. It was formed, as a result of an earthquake, about 10 thousand years ago. A powerful displacement generated the natural dam, which became an insurmountable obstacle for the mountain streams. And the hollow was filled with water. Nowadays the lake consists of two parts: the deepest northern and shallow southern. Divides their underwater ridge. Synevir is the largest lake in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Its average area is 5 hectares, and the largest depth is 22 meters.
