S. Korea, U.S. to reach defense cost-sharing deal as soon as Thursday: Lawmaker

Seoul and Washington could reach a final agreement on defenese cost sharing, as early as today.
That's according to Lee Soo-hyuck..., a member of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs.
He said the two sides have decided to sign a deal for this year only,... and the final amount that South Korea will pay could be around or somewhat less than 9-hundred-30 million dollars a year.
The Trump administration had reportedly demanded about one billion.
Earlier in the week,... the U.S. State Department mentioned the allies have reached an agreement in principle,... but gave no details.
Seoul's ministries of foreign affairs and defense... pointed out negotiations are still ongoing,.. and that no specific details can be released before the final announcement.
