In today’s world around many kinds of Lingas are worshiped in the shrines and have become the places of pilgrimage. Find out how many kinds of Shiv-Linga actually are there in nature as we count a few of them.

1. The Shiva-Lingas are divided into many types according to the materials used to make it such as black rock, sandalwood paste, river clay, wood, stones, white marbles, precious gems, metal, mercury, gold, silver, and many more.
2. The most powerful one amongst all the Lingas that actually contains highly protective energies in its natural form is the Black stone Shiva Linga.
3. The Mukh Lingas are those with one or more faces carved on it. These ancient sign of Shiv-Lingas are rarely found now.
4. Parad Shiva Linga or Padrasam is made of mercury (Parad), worshiped with or without the Yoni. It holds great importance for Hindus and is mainly used in Tantric customs.
5. Shiva Lingodbhavamurti is the one with a figure of Lord Shiva carved on its front side which seems to be emerging out of a fiery Linga.
6. There are about eight types of Linga that are mentioned in the Vedantic text. They are namely, Prithvi Linga, Jalalinga, Vayur Linga, Jyothi Linga, Akash Linga, Yajan Linga, Soma Linga and Surya-Linga.
7. Although in Skanda Purana there are supposedly 100 different kinds of Shiva-Linga mentioned through Satarudriya Mantra.
