American Lung Association Calls Out FDA Over E-Cigarettes The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) received
a failing grade from the association
in its State of Tobacco Control report. The author of the report
says the failing grade is
mostly due to "lack of action." It notes a "staggering
78% increase among
high school students and
e-cigarette use in 2017-18." More than one
in five high school
students are current
e-cigarette smokers. The issue has been called
an epidemic by both the
FDA commissioner and
the U.S. surgeon general. Thomas Carr, American Lung Association Tobacco kills 480,000
people in the U.S. each year. It's the leading cause of
U.S. preventable death.
