Tied at 92 with under 8 minutes to go in regulation, the Mavericks used a 12-5 run to go up by seven with 1:20 remaining as Dallas beat Detroit 106-101.

Mavericks rookie guard/forward Luka Doncic poured in 32 points to go along with eight rebounds, a team-high eight assists, two steals and one block in 35 minutes. He posted his fifth career 30-point outing. It was tied for the second-highest scoring effort of Doncic’s career through 47 games. Doncic five 30-point outings are the fifth-most by a teenager in NBA history. LeBron James holds the record with 20, followed by Carmelo Anthony (10), Kevin Durant (7) and Devin Booker (6). He doesn’t turn 20 until Feb. 28.

Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr., tallied 19 points including 11 in the first quarter, to go along with five assists and two rebounds and DeAndre Jordan posted his fourth straight double-double (30th of the season, 294th career) with 13 points, a team-high 11 rebounds, two assists and one steal in the Dallas win.

Pistons forward Blake Griffin posted a game-high 35 points (12-24 FGs, 3-9 3FGs, 8-11 FTs), including 15 in the second quarter and 11 in the third, to go along with seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and a game-high six turnovers in the loss.
