2014 ರ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟು ಮತದಾರರು 1,450,599, ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ 707,734 ಮಹಿಳಾ ಮತದಾರರಿದ್ದರೆ, 742,865 ರಷ್ಟು ಪುರುಷ ಮತದಾರರಿದ್ದರು. 2014 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ಸಿನ ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ್ ಆರ್ ದೇಶಪಾಂಡೆ ಅವರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಬಿಜೆಪಿಯ ಅನಂತ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಹೆಗಡೆ 546,939 ಮತಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು, 140700 ಮತಗಳ ಅಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರೀ ಜಯ ಸಾಧಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ್ ದೇಶಪಾಂಡೆ ಪಡೆದ ಒಟ್ಟು ಮತಗಳು 406,239.

BJP's Ananth Kumar Hegde won 546,939 votes against Congress candidate Prashant R Deshpande in 2014, winning a huge margin of 140,700 votes. The total votes received by Prashant Deshpande are 406,239.
