The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission has cleared Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho of graft claims and recommended the closure of his file.
Joho had been accused alongside Mohammed Abdullah Zubedi and Abdulhakim Abdullah Zubedi of participating in the irregular allocation of Mwembe Tayari market in Mombasa County.
EACC stated that it lacked sufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will now review the file before stating its recommendations.
