No. of foreign workers in Korea hit 880,000 in 2018

According to data, the number of foreign workers in Korea in 2018 has risen six percent on-year.
Statistics Korea and the Ministry of Justice said the number of foreigners working legally in Korea was tallied at 884-thousand as of last year.
Compared to 2012, the figure is up by 186-thousand people, or around 27 percent... thanks largely to jobs in manufacturing and temporary labor.
Data also shows their wages has gone up.
The number of foreign workers making over 2 million Korean won, or 1-thousand-776 U.S. dollars a month... has increased over the last couple years, accounting for more than 60 percent of all foreign workers in Korea.
In 2012, about 70 percent made less than 1-thousand-776 dollars
