On Monday over 30,000 Los Angeles teachers hit the picket lines, in the first city strike in 30 thirty years.
Reuters reports that the teachers in the second largest school system in the U.S. are asking for a 6.5 percent pay raise, more school librarians, counselors, and nurses on campuses. They also want smaller class sizes, less testing, and a moratorium on new charter schools.
