Hundreds of trucks roll through northwestern Alberta city in support of 'yellow vests' movement
  • 5 years ago
An eight-kilometre convoy of big rigs and pickups rolled through Whitecourt, located about 165 kilometres northwest of Edmonton, on Sunday afternoon.

The convoy, inspired by the 'yellow vests' movement taking place in France, follows similar rallies held earlier in the month. The afternoon's events represented Albertan's support for the nation's ailing oil and gas sector and protests against federal actions that critics say will make building pipelines more difficult.

In the video filmed by Coleton Tymchyna and shared to Facebook, the miles-long convoy can be seen slowing traffic and honking.
