S. Korea's gender equality index rose slightly to 71.5 in 2017: Gov't

The government has updated South Korea's gender equality index.
Where a hundred points would be perfect equality,... the latest figure, for 2017, is 71-point-five -- a slight increase from the year before.
Equality is indexed for a range of areas, including economic activity, education, welfare, health and safety... with the number representing the status of women as compared to men.
The area with the most severe inequality, the ministry says... is in decision-making.
There South Korea scored just 29.3 points,... mainly because of a lack of women on government committees and among high-ranking civil servants -- and the same in corporate management.
The most equal area was healthcare, where the index was at 97-point-3.
