Senators not voted into office or who have chosen to leave after this term are saying their goodbyes. According to CNN, in doing so they have expressed concern about the political climate. Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch said: “The Senate as an institution is in crisis.” Sen. Claire McCaskill said something similar: “I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was worried about this place.” Sen. Jeff Flake said: “To say that our politics is not healthy is somewhat of an understatement.”
