Trump: 'Virtually Every Democrat' Supported Border Wall Before I Became President

President Trump on Monday posted another tweet on border security.

President Trump on Monday insisted that "virtually every Democrat" was in support of building a border wall before he proposed one.  Trump tweeted: "Virtually every Democrat we are dealing with today strongly supported a Border Wall or Fence. It was only when I made it an important part of my campaign, because people and drugs were pouring into our Country unchecked, that they turned against it. Desperately needed!"  "The most important way to stop gangs, drugs, human trafficking and massive crime is at our Southern Border," he wrote on Sunday. "We need Border Security, and as EVERYONE knows, you can't have Border Security without a Wall. The Drones & Technology are just bells and whistles. Safety for America!" A partial government shutdown began early Saturday morning after lawmakers could not agree on a budget given the president's initial demand for $5 billion in border wall funding.  However, according to Bloomberg, the White House has agreed to lower that amount, as of Saturday, to "$2.5 billion for border security, including new fencing and $400 million for Trump immigration priorities." The Democrats, meanwhile, have offered $1.3 billion for border security with no money allocated for a border wall with Mexico.
