Pres. Moon congratulates Kim Jong-yang on becoming Interpol chief

President Moon Jae-in congratulated the recently elected chief of Interpol, who became the first Korean to hold the post.
Meeting with Kim Jong-yang... at the top office, the South Korean leader called the accomplishment, a victory for the nation, and said Kim is a source of great pride for the country..., having won that election last month by a large margin.
The President told Kim that he will be able to raise Interpol's status by boosting cooperation with countries to more effectively fight international crimes like terrorism.
Before being elected the head of the global law enforcement body, Kim Jong-yang..., served in the South Korean police since 1992, rising to the post of Chief of Police in Gyeonggi-do Province, and retired in 2015 to become a vice president at Interpol.
