The country may be divided right now. But the nation’s leaders always gather to mourn the loss of an American president. George H.W. Bush, the 41st President of the USA, died on November 30th. To honor his life, his funeral service was announced as a national day of mourning.

Joining former President George W. Bush, were fellow presidents including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and of course, current president Donald J. Trump. Also paying their respects at the Washington National Cathedral were dignitaries from all around the world.

Jon Meacham, Bush’s presidential historian, delivered a heartfelt eulogy.

As is obliged on a national day of mourning, the United States Postal Service was closed for the day, in addition to the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. Also closed was the Supreme Court, along with many of our nation’s federal courthouses.
