On Tuesday, Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith defeated Democrat Mike Espy in the Mississippi Senate race.
The race has been defined by the Republican's racially-charged comments.
Hyde-Smith's runoff victory in the last midterm race of 2018.
She took 54% of the vote to Espy's 46%.
It was far from the definitive victory many Republicans hoped for.
