According to Reuters, almost 200,000 homes and businesses lost power in the mid-West United States.
A snowstorm knocked out power across Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
The Commonwealth Edison utility, which serves northern Illinois, said the storm affected at least 334,000 customers as well.
Forecasters expect the snowstorm to dump between 6-and-10 inches of wet snow, with wind gusts up to 50 miles-per-hour.
The snowstorm also forced authorities in the mid-West to shutdown highways.
