According to CNN, the wife of a jailed British academic has called for the UAE to recognize their misunderstanding of her husband's activities.
Matthew Hedges, an academic of Middle Eastern studies at Durham University in England was arrested in Dubai in May.
UAE officials arrested Hedges at Dubai International Airport on suspicion of espionage.
Hedges was held in solitary confinement for almost six months before being released on bail last month.
But a hasty trial culminated in a guilty verdict with a life sentence.
The 31-year-old Hedges and his wife have repeatedly denied allegations of spying, but prosecutors in the UAE insist the academic confessed.
