Pres. Moon says ASEAN and APEC trip was success, urges gov't to prepare to host next year's summits
  • 5 years ago
President Moon Jae-in has declared his recent trip to Southeast Asia a success,... saying that he gained international support for positive changes on the Korean Peninsula and for his people-centered and inclusive growth policies.
He made the comments during Tuesday's cabinet meeting, and highlighted how next year South Korea would host the Korea-ASEAN summit and the very first Korea-Mekong summit between South Korea, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
These will be the first multilateral summits to be held by the Moon Administration. President Moon said they will be an important opportunity to further promote economic cooperation and human exchanges with Southeast Asian nations, and urged his cabinet to organize a preparatory pan-government initiative.
