U.S. President Donald Trump is forecasting that Washington will strike a good deal in its trade negotiations with China.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, Trump said the two sides are getting closer to doing something, adding a lot of progress had been made to resolve their differences.
He said that, during his phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping the previous day, he could feel that his Chinese counterpart wants to make a deal.
President Trump said the deal will be fair for everybody and at the same time good for the United States.
However, Trump's economic adviser Larry Kudlow was more cautious, saying nothing will happen soon.
