Watch: Had all permissions, says Amritsar Dussehra event organiser

The organiser of the Dussehra event at Amritsar’s Dhobi Ghat which saw 61 people killed as a train ploughed through a crowd claims that all requisite permissions were in place. In a video shared by ANI, a visibly distressed Saurabh Madan alias Mithu claims that he is being framed by people who have a ‘personal enmity’ against him. Saurabh Madan went into hiding after kin of the victims in Friday’s tragedy accused him of lapses in the organisation of the Dusshera event. “We took all permissions. We had kept a 20 feet space around the Ravan effigy. There was no lapse from my side. We had 50-100 policemen at the site, along with a fire brigade vehicle. The programme was held within the boundary of the Dhobi ghat ground, not on the (railway) line,” Madan said.
