Sensex rises 300 points, Nifty reclaims 10,600 led by auto, banking stocks

Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE's Nifty 50 gained for the third straight session on Tuesday as investors shifted their focus to September quarter earnings season from global trade and geopolitical tensions. The Sensex rose over 300 points, while the Nifty 50 reclaimed 10,600 level led by gains in auto and banking stocks. Mahindra and Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC and ONGC were among the top gainers on key indices. Infosys shares traded nearly 1% up ahead of its September quarter earnings due to be released later in the day.
