WWI Anniversary: Remembering the Indians who fought in World War 1
  • 5 years ago
11 November 2018 marks the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War I. India being a former British colony played a vital role in helping Britain and its allies win over Germany and allies, a role that is often overlooked. India sent nearly 14 lakh soldiers to fight the war and contributed nearly £146.2 million towards the war’s cost, in arms, supplies, and food. 23 years after the war ended, the British built India Gate in 1931, to commemorate the Indian soldiers who died in the war.
