Unemployment Rate Hits
Lowest Level Since 1969 Job growth for September was
also at its lowest level in a year. However, unemployment dropped to a rate not seen in nearly 50 years. The rate dropped to 3.7%, one-tenth of a percentage point below expectations. Nonfarm payrolls rose 134,000,
well below estimates of 185,000. That marks the worst performance since last September, when a labor strike weighed on the numbers.
