The Bharatiya Kisan union-led Kranti Yatra turned violent at the Delhi-UP border while en route to Delhi. The police resorted to lathi charge, water cannons and tear gas shells to stop the farmers marching towards Delhi. A meeting is underway in the residence of home minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the situation which seems to be escalating. The farmers are planning to head Rajghat today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to press for their demand. The protesters will be submitting a memorandum to the centre listing their 21 demands, including implementation of the Swaminathan commission report, free electricity to farmers and waiver of farm loans.
