North Korea Says 'No Way' It'll Unilaterally Denuclearize Without More Trust In US

North Korea on Saturday there needs to be more trust before the nation will disarm nuclear weapons.

A top North Korean official has declared that the regime will not denuclearize "without any trust in the U.S."
During his speech before the United Nations Saturday, Ri Yong Ho, Foreign Minister of North Korea, said of his government's position, "Without any trust in the U.S., there will be no confidence in our national security, and under such circumstances, there is no way we will unilaterally disarm ourselves first."
He added: "The DPRK government's commitment to denuclearization is solid and firm. However, it is only possible if the U.S. secures our sufficient trust towards the U.S."
As for lack of trust in North Korea's willingness to follow through with its promises, Ri blamed partisan politics in the U.S., accusing critics of the Trump administration for slandering the regime "with the sole purpose of attacking their political opponent."
He went on to say that North Korea has "far more reasons to distrust the U.S."
Ri's sharp remarks come just days after President Trump told reporters he doesn't want to play a "time game" when it comes to the denuclearization of North Korea.
