Man Tries to Set Bronx Deli on Fire After Arguing With Employee

The New York Police Department (NYPD) asked the public for help identifying a man who tried to set fire to a store in the Bronx neighborhood of Wakefield on Sunday, September 23, after an earlier dispute with an employee.Police said the man entered the First Stop Grocery Deli on Sunday morning and got into an argument with a male employee “which escalated into a physical confrontation.” Later, the same man returned, poured flammable liquid in the doorway of the store and lit it on fire, police said.The New York Daily News, citing police, said the suspect had a beer in his hand when he first entered the store and argued with an employee when they refused to allow him to leave and pay for cigars later on.The NYPD said an employee extinguished the fire with water, there were no injuries, and the store sustained only minor damage.
